Identity card photos

Camille had to get a set of passport-style photos and I got a chance to scan them before use. I thought you might like to see them—they're pretty good!

Heading off for I'île d'Aix

Raph decided to take a few days off work so he and Camille left this evening to take the children for a few days at the sea, staying, as before, on the Isle de Ré — about as far a westerly point as you can go.

Today our intrepid explorers sent us this picture as they go to explore a new island: the Isle of Aix. More later!

Grandma and the duck

Beautiful summer weather. Christopher has finished school. The children swimming across the lake in the evening, bowls of ripe cherries around the house ... and it's Rebecca's birthday!

We got Grandma outside again today to get a little fresh air—on her way to the terrace where we ate lunch. Up jumped one of Raphael's little ducks into her lap! Of course, he just had to take a picture!

We knew it was going to be a good year for fruit and we're not being disappointed. Some years our trees hardly bear at all but this year all of the cherry trees are ripe and bursting with luscious fruit. I guess they came late this year because of the weather but for the past ten days the kids have been going out every spare minute and gorging themselves on fresh fruit. Thank the Lord!

The promise of fruit

This is just one vine outside the kitchen at street level. But it's facing almost due south and this is looking like a good year for fruit all round: all the cherry trees have been producing copiously and the children have enjoyed daily excursions to collect huge buckets of them.

If the vineyard follows the trend, this will be a nice year for our wine.
